Terms of use
Entoma is licensed to you under Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement. The points below add what is particular to Entoma. Where they differ, these terms apply between you and the developer.
The guide
The guide is free to read, with no limit. Every entry is checked against published sources, but nature varies and mistakes happen. If you find one, the "Report an error" link on each species page tells us.
Identification and safety
Identification from a photo is a suggestion, given as a ranked list with a confidence for each match. It can be wrong. Do not rely on Entoma to decide whether an insect is safe to touch, whether a sting or bite needs care, or whether something may be eaten. The "To people" notes are general. For a sting, bite or allergic reaction, seek medical help.
Entoma Pro
Entoma Pro adds unlimited identification, the journal with CSV export, and comparing any two species side by side. It is offered as a yearly or monthly subscription, or as a single lifetime purchase. Prices are shown in the app in your local currency before you buy.
- Payment is charged to your Apple account when you confirm the purchase.
- A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless you turn it off at least 24 hours before the period ends. Your Apple account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before.
- You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple account settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal; the current period stays active until it ends.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under its own policy.
- "Restore purchases" in the app brings Pro back on a new or reset phone signed in to the same Apple account.
Without Pro, a small number of free identifications is available each month; the number is shown in the app.
Fair use of identification
Identification uses a paid service for every photo. To keep it available for everyone, each phone has a daily limit that ordinary use does not reach. Automated or bulk use is not allowed.
Pictures and texts
The plates are prepared from photographs published under Creative Commons licences or with the photographers' permission, and the credit and licence for each one are shown in the app under Settings, Image credits and licences. Those licences continue to apply to the pictures. The texts, design and arrangement of the guide belong to the developer; please do not copy them in bulk.
Changes and availability
The guide will grow and change. Features may be added, changed or removed, but what you paid for with Pro will not be taken away during a paid period. If these terms change, the new version will be published here with a new date.
